I am currently
reading for an M.A. in English and the Media with the University of Malta. The
main reason why I started this course was because I wanted to further my
knowledge and learn more about effective writing in a world where information
is highly abundant. Embarking on such a course is truly challenging but
rewarding nonetheless.
I like challenges as I believe these make the world more interesting and I love working in a team. I believe that when people work together, the results achieved are outstanding because shared ideas can really lead to impressive results.
I have also a great passion for teaching – something which I have been doing for the past twelve years. Clearly those who are in the industry know that it is definitely not one of the best paid jobs but it is something does out of love and genuine care for future generations. I have taught both English, Media Studies and Environmental Studies at Secondary level and have participated in various EU projects which encourage student empowerment. These include the Comenius initiative, FEE projects such as Ekoskola, Young Reporters for the Environment and Blue Flag Beaches campaign. These initiatives are highly challenging as new projects have to be carried out in relation to sustainability giving students a basic experience of proper team work and deadlines [and all the pressure and satisfaction that come with it.]
I was also recently part of a publication related to the Environment which basically involved compiling material and working with local publishers to produce a highly informative and colourful textbook for Environmental Studies. It is currently being used in all church and private schools.
Every two years I also take part in a local voluntary choir production called Voices. I have been doing this since 1998. The two-week show line up is awesome as a 200 strong choir together with a live band entertains a fully packed MCC Hall. Whilst the show is great, the commitment is highly important as rehearsals take place on weekly basis during the intense summer heat. All proceeds from this event go to charity.
My interests vary from cultural events, to historical and scientific events. I form part of various committees with the most recent one being related to the organisation of a Christmas Village for the first time at a local school. I truly consider myself as a person who simply loves to learn and who loves to pass on knowledge in an interesting way. I am a great advocate for sustainability as I truly believe that we are merely looking after our planet for the generations to come.
